Wool is a completely natural material that requires care similar to that of your skin, leather, and even hair—regular maintenance is essential. When properly cared for, wool can last a lifetime.
• You don’t need to wash your wool items frequently; their fibers have a natural coating that makes them resistant to dirt and dust. Wool also inhibits the spread of bacteria, allowing you to simply air it out outdoors for freshness. Gently massaging it with a moisturizer helps keep the fibers hydrated and maintains their quality.
• For machine washing, use a specialized wool detergent (in small amounts) with a cold setting and minimal rotation. If hand washing, you can opt for a hair shampoo instead of traditional detergent since wool is a natural fiber. Be sure to gently squeeze out any excess water using your hands.
• Allow it to dry flat on a smooth surface, using a towel underneath to absorb moisture.
• When storing wool in drawers or closets, include a natural anti-moth solution (such as lavender, eucalyptus, cedar flakes, or bay leaves).
